It just stayed on after a sterilizing cycle. It must have stayed hot for a few hours since we had run the cycle over night. Even after pushing the power button on the front of the machine and there were no lights on the screen and no indication that it was on, but the heating element was definitely on. Only after unplugging the whole unit did it seem to cool down. But then after plugging it back in (again not yet touching any buttons), the heating element would audibly click and begin to heat up again. Definitely dangerous.
