We were given the haberman nipples in the hospital. He wasn't eating very good at all. It would take him an hour to eat .5 ounce. I ordered these praying that he would be able to eat better and he did. He was able to eat 2 ounces in 5-10 minutes. We've had them a a week and he's already gained 10 ounces. We also bought Dr. Browns pacifier and he was able to hold it in his mouth on his own. highly recommend Dr. Browns. I do really like the wide necked bottle . The only downside is it leaks from the rim by the white venting part . I often mix my formula with a fork then skake it then unscrew the cap wah the white part and the pink vent tube to make sure it doesn't have milk in it. Even then it sometimes leaks. I began to pump and bottle feed using Philips Avent bottles. He immediately began to reflux his milk. This went on for a few weeks. When I returned to work my milk supply diminished over time and I had to formula feed. My son developed sever digestion issues. He would almost always spit up after every feeding. After visiting with the dr we decided to put him on medication to help control the reflux. Around 6 months of age he Began to vomit severely after one or two feedings a day and then by 7 months he was refusing to eat from a bottle. He never would eat more than 4 oz at a time before that. Finally my doctor recommended switching bottles. She named off a few brands. I had heard some great things about dr Browns bottles from other friends who have infants. I wish I would have made the switch sooner. Upon his first feeding from the dr Browns bottle he had eaten an entire 6 oz bottle with absolutely no gagging, coughing, or spitting up. I was still hesitant but after an hour with no vomiting episode I was sold. We went and purchased 10 more. Now only two weeks later he is up to 8 oz per feeding and hasn't spit up or vomitted one time. I'm hoping that this leads to him being taken off the medication at his next check up. I just wish the replacement valves were easier to find. However, we're a bit disappointed this round. For some reason, the bottles now leak a bit. (These are the newer bottles with the printed measurements, but not the green inserts.) The bottles aren't over-filled, all pieces are in place - there doesn't seem to be a &quot;user error&quot;. We'll certainly stick with using the bottles, because they really make a difference. After a few weeks he would cry randomly while feeding, be gassy and cranky. The Dr. Brown's Bottles were on my registry and I got a set, so I opened it up. Whole new baby, he stopped crying while eating the gas lessened and so did the cranky baby. I was told he had silent reflux, when I would use other bottles he would gag and gurgle in his sleep, with the use of Dr. Brown's it lessened. I love the bottles and recommend them to everyone. I have been recommending them for years, I had worked in daycares for years and saw changes in babies with reflux or eating issues when the parents switched to Dr. Brown's. My only negative is the leaking. It doesn't stop me from using them or recommending them but maybe making like a 10 oz bottle so I can feed my baby without him wearing an ounce? She was whisked away to the NICU due to concerns about feeding. We were trapped in the NICU until we could learn to feed her with the Mead-Johnson squeeze bottle. All the air that bottle put in her belly made it hard to meet the requirements of the amount of milk in the time span they needed. We eventually got to a point where we were ok to take her home. She suffered from incredible gas and was in a lot of pain. The Mead-Johnson bottle was the only one besides the dreaded (and from what I hear complicated) Haberman feeder. We found a cleft palate team in our area and they had just gone to a conference where they learned about this Dr. Brown's bottle. They sent us home with the 4 oz size to see how it worked for us. We LOVE it! She was unable to gain weight and having a very difficult time with the squeeze bottle. Now she is growing and loving her bottle! This bottle is amazing and we are so very happy we found it!!! Too complicated looking, too many parts to clean, too bulky, just not cute at all, etc. HOWEVER, I just can't hate them because simply put they work for us. From the moment I gave my 7 week old this bottle I could tell the difference from all of the other brands. I've probably tried most of all of the popular anti-colic brand and I was just over spending $8 a bottle for them not to work. Every time I'd mention my disdain for pretty much all bottles friends/family would always mention Dr. Brown. Went to a baby shower and ladies were talking about Dr. Brown. After having twisted my arm I still wasn't convinced. Went to the store and they were 20% so I thought to myself &quot;fine. What's $13 for 3 bottles&quot; and bought them and I'm so glad I did! These bottles are so &quot;quiet&quot; compared to all of the other bottles. No sucking sound. No air bubbles floatin around in formula/breast milk. No collapsing nipple. And most importantly no more gassy-spitting up-angry baby = happy parents! Yay! The first time we used the bottle it did leak but I've found that we have to screw the nipple/cap on a little tighter than normal and also make sure all parts meet up correctly. Once we figured that out No more leaks! I gave this bottle a four star because mixing formula can be a bit of a pain. We had a 7 week NICU stay, mainly because of feeding issues. My girls were struggling so bad with bottle feeding. We tried SO MANY bottles. Finally the lactation consultant gave us a Dr. Browns bottle to try as it seemed the biggest issue was the girls collapsing the nipples. The very first feed with the Dr. Browns my girls took more than they ever had! I immediately drove to Target and cleared the shelf. About a week later both of my girls were home! Thank you, Dr. Browns for getting my girls home! They said it was a great bottle to prevent air bubbles and gas because of the vent. So I included it on my baby registry and received it as a shower gift. In prepping for the baby's arrival, I opened the packaging to wash the bottle and was frightened away by all the parts and pieces, although I was impressed that a brush was included to clean the little areas. The baby is here ... with colic: He would not stop crying. He was so uncomfortable with gas and I tried EVERYTHING. Gripe water, probiotics, Gerber's soothe since it has the probiotic in it, but I couldn't piece to gather the right combination. I started looking at different bottles. I wrote to a few of the major companies asking for a sample or a coupon, I wasn't sure what would work best for us and didn't want to invest in something that may not be a great fit. My responses ranged from no response to a &quot;sorry we do not do that.&quot; A week went by and I received a package in the mail, with a Dr. Brown bottle. They were the only ones that gave something, and that something was a bottle! My boy loved it! And it was a piece of the puzzle we were missing, that and the y-cut nipple which allows thicker liquid and lets my son pick the speed at which he wants to take in his bottle. Moving right along: My son is now 8months old and has a collection of at least 15 bottles (3days worth). His dad took him out for the day and somehow returned home with only the bottles. We were missing the innards, nipples and covers for 3 of the bottles. After a BRU visit and finding just the nipples, and vents I contacted Dr. Brown to inquire about purchasing the cover, and nipple holder. After a quick response from Dr. Brown asking about specifics of the bottle, they said no problem and that they do have replacement parts. I eagerly awaited an invoice and received instead all the replacement parts save the nipples. How awesome was that?! Their customer service went above and beyond my expectations. Am I a loyal customer? Oh most definitely, they had me at the first contact. Would I recommend them? Yup, loudly, to everyone with or soon to have a little one.
