I very much miss using the bluetooth app, after all it was most of the appeal. I wanted a sound machine that plugged into the power outlet as I was tired of wasting batteries of our baby's sound machine stuffy. I also wanted a star projector and a sound machine for my four year old to help him fall asleep and make his room brighter. This seemed to tick lots of boxes of what I wasn't looking for and I am so happy we bought them! The night lights are great as it features a dim light lamp as well as a consistent dimmer orange light and a star projection which changes colours. The buttons are also backlit so you can see what you're doing in the dark. It has a good variety of sounds - various lullabies and various white noise. The volume on the unit is a little finicky but better control if you use the app. It goes quite high too and the sound quality is quite good. The app is great and allows you to control the volume of the sounds and brightness of the lights. It does tend to lose contact with the unit if your smart device is too far away. It does allow you to set up timers too if you don't want the unit running all night. I did not anticipate how much my whole family would love it! The older kids are requesting soothers of their own and are always eager to help set it up for the baby at nap time and bed time. Pros: - Easy to operate--even my preschoolers understand how to operate it! - Plugs into the wall--no worries about replacing batteries - Several types of light that can be used together, separately or not at all - Music and sound options with a few choices in each category - Three volume settings--and the button flashes when you set the volume so you know which setting it's on - Music and sound fade out when you cut it off--it eases off rather than stopping abruptly, so as not to startle sleeping child - Buttons have symbols that represent their features and are slightly lit when off and lit a bit brighter when on, making it easy to see which features are being used - Offers features kids of various ages can appreciate--like I said, I got it for my 18-month-old, but I have kids several years older who would like to have one in their rooms--so this is something a child can enjoy and use for many years, not just a few months - Can be operated using an app--genius! No parent wants to risk waking their baby in order to turn off or adjust the settings on their soother, but that is what often happens when the door cracks open or footsteps can be heard nearby. Perfect for families like ours, who need it on a louder setting to drown out the sounds of the older kids' evening routine, but prefer it to be quieter (or off) once everyone is in bed - Beautiful design--mostly neutral (white and silver/gray) with a bit of aqua--lovely neutral to suit most decor styles and either gender Cons: - While I appreciate that it does have a few volume options, I would prefer to have a range continuous range so I can set it exactly where I want it. All in all, this is a great product and a great value. It seems to be in the mid-range of products with similar features (sounds, music, etc.), with some $10-$20 less and others $10-$20 more. The first few days, we tested out different settings for to help our son to sleep. We really enjoy the different sounds they offer and of course the different light configurations. We used the app a few times in the middle of the night, but most of time, he sleeps through the night. We did take it on a mini vacation and it worked great. Not practical, but we wanted see how well it did in a hotel with extra noise. The sound is good and the lamp is a good size but the star projections on the ceiling are too big and not easily identify. The animals project on the wall only one. They are 18 months old and have NEVER slept through the night. In fact for the last three nights they have both slept through the night and we know this will continue as long as we keep this on throughout the night. Although it is a smart connect and you can adjust the effects, turn it off, etc. through the night, we just keep it on. As I rock my son in his chair before putting him to bed, he is so excited to see the stars on the ceiling. We have chosen the music option and stars and feel this is our magical mixture to get them to sleep. I have been and am going to recommend this to EVERYONE I know that is pregnant and those with young kids who are having difficulty sleeping at night. I recommend this product a million percent!
