It is a very cleverly designed mobile, and holds her attention for well beyond the 20 minutes that it runs. We often restart it, because she is having so much fun. She laughs &amp; smiles &amp; wiggles...she just loves it! It's nice to have a mobile that we don't have to stand up &amp; wind, every few minutes. And, the arm/mobile mechanism easily removes, to convert to a simple night light &amp; music box. Also, it's nice to hear a little classical music, instead of the same old lullabies that most mobiles have! It fits our crib just fine, but we don't have a fancy designer crib. The nurses turned it on for him a lot, and it always seemed to calm him down. Then when we got to take him home with us we put it up on his changing table, cause he sleeps in a hammock still. He absolutely loves staring at it while we change his diapers. He'd stay in there and &quot;talk&quot; to it for hours if we let him. It's true that it doesn't fit everything very well, I'm sure when we move him to a crib and have to move the mobile we'll have to rig it a bit just to make sure it's secure. But it would be worth it, cause he loves it so much. Also, I'd like to point out that we've had the same batteries in it for 2 months and still haven't had to change them out. And we've never had any problems getting it to work. First of all, the mobile does not fit every crib securely. We had to make special adjustments just to make it stay tightly. Second, the buttons for the music fail to work all of the time. Third, the batteries die out very quickly. It takes (3) C batteries; standard batteries last a maximum of 12 minutes, whereas rechargeable batteries last a maximum of 30 minutes. She tracks the animals and laughs as her favorite (giraffe) nears her. The clicking noise doesn't distract her. She will fall asleep while the mobile is on. I do agree however that the music is repetitive but it seems like it's so the babies can predict what part of the lullaby will follow. The light is bright enough to be able to see the baby but not too bright that it will wake her up if I come and check on her. Another good thing about this is that it is battery operated. He never looked at toys or paid attention to fans, so his grandmommy picked this one out based on the fact that it had black and white features as well as color, and played classical music. This mobile is more entertaining to him than ceiling fans (his second favorite)! We have it on his bassinet for now, but it fits easily on his convertible crib as well. He kicks so much while watching it that his bassinet shakes, and will immediately stop cooing and start crying when it turns off. I agree with another reviewer; the &quot;clacking&quot; of the little pieces is quite annoying, but easily fixed using the wire ties that the mobile is packaged with or moving the pieces above the notch in the arms. The only drawback I see is that when you first turn it on, it's supposed to cycle through all 3 musical selections...mine will only do that if I turn it on, choose one of the selections, then turn it off and back on again. We loved that one! It was so cute, the colors were fun and it kept my daughter's attention for a good, long time. So when #3 came along, I didn't even think twice about getting this new model. What a disappointment. The painted parts are fuzzy, the plastic is cheap and the fabric is of a lower quality than what you'd find on that county fair animal you won. The colors and design of this newer model are not as appealing to me either. Sort of gaudy and dated. But worst of all was the fact that the motor is so noisy. You can barely hear the music over the grind of the motor. I actually exchanged the first mobile I bought thinking I must have a bad one. When the second one had the same problem, I'm assumed it was just the poor quality of this mobile. Really, what a disappointment. However, I have a convertible crib and it wouldn't fit tightly on the side of the crib. If you have a convertible crib that has thicker rails that go across the top you may want to rethink this mobile.
