Helps to keep the baby warm. Love that it can be opened up if the baby gets to warm. Also a great feature is that it is waterproof. So the baby will stay dry if it starts to rain or snow. He looked comfy all bundled up, but didn't appear to get overheated. The inner lining in soft like sheepskin (for the price they could have used real sheepskin) and the outer shell looks waterproof (we didn't test that). Visually, it matches the Adorra stroller well. My chief complaint is the installation process. I could not figure it out and had to have my wife fix it. A step-by-step tutorial would be helpful as it was very frustrating.
