We have a newly one year old who loves to climb steps. We have stairs with banisters so it was hard to find a gate that would work. This worked like a charm. It was easy enough to install myself. It's with held her shaking it and pushing it. It's easy to get through the gate with my hands full. I love this gate because when opening it, there isn't a bottom piece to trip over like a different brand we use in the kitchen. It clicks close easy and it's easy to open. We use our gate at the bottom of the steps.
