Sadly, it ended up snapping at the wall joint after the little one spooked the dog, who crashed headfirst into it. Both of these have failed miserably, just with very basic limited use. They locking mechanism sticks and causes the door to either be incredibly difficult to open or causes the door to not close at all. Safety 1st is giving us the run around with the warrantee. DO NOT PURCHASE! The gates were useful for less than a month. The easy install walk throu gate was what I needed to keep my toddler off the stairs. It was easy to install and is very secure. My husband and I find it seamlessly opens for us, but is very difficult for the kids to open it. One thing I wish I had the option to do was a no drill kit that hugged my banister. With some extra tools I was able to get it sturdy enough, but it wouldn't be safe at all using only what came with it. I think a simpler design would be far more effective.
