The material on both sides is very soft and has tags attached to it for inquisitive little fingers. There is a crayon teether attached which I find a little bulky and heavy. It was be awesome if it were detachable so the blanket could be used for easier cuddling and not have to worry about my little one smacking himself with it when he shakes it up and down. That is really my only negative thought about this blanket.
