Based on the safety recommendations, he was too big for safe use of the mobile. The cool part is that the unit is still very functional! It serves as a sound machine/nightlight. I think it's awesome that the mobile can be used past the limited time when mobiles are safe. I also like that it would eliminate the need for purchasing a secondary sound machine/music device. I've been turning it on every night when I put him down for bed, and he is learning to quickly calm and go to sleep. I did put the mobile together and found it a bit tricky, but once together it seemed very well made and sturdy. The mobile was very easy to install with the wheel system that they included. Pros: The mobile is extremely easy to put together. It came practically assembled, the directions were easy to use, and within 5 minutes it was good to go! The music and speed of the mobile is great for keeping my baby entertained and it easily attached to the crib without any additional tools. The mobile was versatile and helped soothe my baby while in the crib. The only negative are the colors making it difficult to match the aesthetic of the nursery. There were a ton of music options which played nonstop for at least half an hour! What I am really excited about is the conversion to a music box which will be awesome for play time as they get older. Putting it together was a bit of a pain because there are so many pieces, and I don't love that it uses uncommon batteries (1.5v), but I did like the feature where you can use the crib rails to hold it up. After I assembled it, I saw that it was thoughtfully designed to be a toy that can grow with baby - after they outgrow the mobile, you can take off that piece and play with it as a musical toy. The Tiny Love Soothe ' n Groove Mobil impressed both my 5 month old son and myself. He has refused to lay in his crib for any length of time while awake since his birth until we installed this mobil. He is quite fascinated by the movement of the toys above him and the music playing is both whimsical and soothing, even to the mom who is already worn out of lullabies and kids tunes. He isn't quite old enough to grasp the concept of hitting the buttons on the box to change the tunes but I think with time, he will enjoy that feature as well. When I first took it out of the box, I was a bit overwhelmed on how to put it together but I am not gifted in that area anyway so I put my husband to work and he had it done and attached to the crib in a jiffy. He said it was fairly easy and was fascinated at how you can separate the music box from the Mobil as our son gets older. The only thing I don't like about it is because we have a mini crib, it takes up a lot of space and we have to attach, unattach, and reattach it every time we use it however it is so simple to do, thankfully. This ability to grow with my baby has been amazing! Both my 8 month old and toddler enjoy playing with it. The cute bright characters keep their attention. Another thing I loved is the music that it plays. Our family can be a little sensitive to sound and everyone enjoys listening to this toy. It's not too loud, catchy for adults, and lots of variety. It was simple to install and feels secure. In addition, it's really convenient how there are many options. Between the night light, music, and rotating the mobile you can have them on or off in many combinations. And if you don't want the mobile part on your crib at all times you can easily covert it from a mobile to a music box or take it all off. One thing I would change is the picture on the packaging. Specifically the fox looks different than what's depicted on the box. The colors aren't the same and on the box it has a scarf but not on the actual mobile. It doesn't impact my liking for the toy, but I think it's important for customers to see exactly what they will be receiving. Overall I liked this mobile and found it to be a great addition to our toys. The versatility really helps this stand out from other mobiles as you can use it for much longer. When I received this mobile it was very easy to assemble and the directions were straightforward it took less than 5 minutes. Attaching it to the crib was extremely easy, sturdy and doesn't leave marks damaging your furniture! My son's attention is locked in when we're awake and using it for entertainment and play. With 6 different music options and 18 different melodies it offers a wide variety of listening experiences! When it's nap time or time for bed we can lower the volume, put on the soothing melodies with the moving mobile that helps sooth my baby to sleep! The added nightlight and 40 minutes of uninterrupted music play it allows your baby to fall deep asleep without waking at the sound of the music stop. I love that this is a two in one with being able to detach the music box from the mobile to allow your child to grow and still find use of it! This mobile ticks all the boxes and promises to be useful even after no longer on crib duty. The instructions are well written and contain a lot of pictures. Assembly is easy and straightforward. The way it connects to the crib is simple and sturdy. No worry of this mobile becoming loose and it's easy to remove or reposition as needed. Operation is simple. One slide switch to choose music or music &amp; light. On the face of the mobile are six little buttons, and one big button which is also the light. Choosing any of the little buttons will select one of the 5 categories of music and there's a &quot;shuffle&quot; button which will switch categories after each song. There is also a white noise button which sometimes is the best option. The volume buttons have six settings including no sound if you just want to have the mobile spinning. Our little one is mesmerized by the movement of the animals and objects dancing over her head. She usually falls asleep quickly, but if she awakes she enjoys watching them and it helps her fall back asleep. I like that the music plays long enough (40 minutes) to get her through her first sleep cycle into her second. Two minor wishes: I wish it would start at the same volume and category as last played. When we turn it on we always have to turn it down. Also, I wish the animals on the arms didn't bind as they rotate. Since the mobile isn't on a level plane, as gravity takes over, they release and do an abrupt shuffle as they spin around. In reality, it probably bothers me more than my little one. Overall, the Soothe 'n Groove has been a great addition to our child's crib. I can see it being equally as useful when she can take it along as a stand-alone music player. There is even a nice handle that a toddler would be able to utilize. Installing it in the crib was super easy - my 3 year old helped! If I do ever get around to finding batteries, I will probably use it primarily as a mobile white noise machine, and as entertainment for the baby when she's a bit bigger. He can now stand up and turn it on in the mornings. it keeps him happy for an extra 30 to 45 minutes in the morning, which is worth any amount of money! It's versatile across many ages. Overall this is a decent product it was pretty simple to assemble and very easy to attach to the crib. If you want to remove the music box you can easily do that. We removed the music box and have our daughter play with it during the day. She loves when the light is on because she can press it to rotate through the sounds. Our favorites are jazz and nature! The part about the mobile I don't like is the actual mobile. I do love the colors and that all the animals face towards the baby (she isn't looking at just animal butts). When it spins though, the animals hanging down whip around and it's quite startling and a bit noisy. They seem to be a bit off balance due to weight and don't glide around in a circle. Due to this we don't use in the crib. Unfortunately I can't highly recommend as this mobile becomes an expensive white noise machine. As soon as I put it up my 8month old started clapping and kicking for joy. She was very impressed! The look is cute and understated. The characters move around at a nice slow pace. It took about 10-15min to put together. Easy instructions to follow. Once I had it together I put it in the crib a few hours later it fell down in the crib. Mine may have been faulty. My crib has a curved edge and has thick bars so that may have played a factor in it too. Unfortunately, my 10 month old son is already standing and therefore able to grab the mobile above the crib just as the warning sticker on the product stated. That being said, the detachable base has been an entertaining toy for him to play with outside of his crib. There are 6 various sounds (Jazz, World, Nature, Classic, Lullaby, White sound) to select from with the option to have them alternate as well. The largest button has two cute characters on it and once pressed, plays music. The six smaller buttons are to change the sounds, and the swap button is slightly above that. The buttons are easy for my son to press and there's a choice to have sound with or without lighting. Additionally, the volume has many noise levels which I love. So many toys are too loud but this is perfect as the sound can be turned down. The only hiccup was that the product did not come with the required &quot;c&quot; batteries. There is a handle that can be pushed down if it's not needed. Affixing it to the crib is simple as well - just a simple screw that is honestly way more secure than I thought it would be when I initially evaluated how to attach it to the side of the crib. My baby boy has loved it so far! It keeps him occupied in his crib while I'm able to get things done around the house. The concept it super cute and it really captivates my baby. I do wish the spinning part was actually level, as opposed to being on such an angle. I almost thought I had put it together incorrectly at first, but it seems like it's meant to be that way. However, I find that I need to continue using other products in addition to this mobile. Pros: Easy to put together (took about 5 minutes from unboxing to attached to crib rail), kid-friendly controls (my 4-year-old enjoys turning it on and off for his baby brother), aesthetically pleasing, battery operated (no cords near the crib!). Will be good for travel as naptime sound machine/nightlight (with mobile portion detached). Cons: 40 min timer (means it cannot replace a noise machine or nightlight in the room), bulky (leans further out into the crib than other mobiles), hanging pieces not counterbalanced well (results in a bit of a noise when they reach apex of rotation and turn to come back down). Can only be attached through railings (therefore will not work with solid ends of a crib or a changing table). At first, I was a little deterred because it requires 3 C batteries that I did not have lying around the house. I bought batteries and started putting it together. It was so easy to put together I didn't even use the instructions. It was also so simple to add on to our crib. It took less than 5 minutes for set up. My baby loves to watch the ceiling fans so I was assuming he would love the mobile and he definitely does! It is so cute and has a lot of settings and doesn't move around too fast. I think he could watch it for hours if I let him! I also love that you have the option to take the mobile off and using it as a handheld carry around toy for him when he gets a little older. It's like 2 toys in 1! I think the colors and animals are cute and pretty neutral too so they can fit well into different nursery decors. When I briefly looked for a good mobile for his nursery a lot of the ones I found you had to buy the stand to hook onto the crib separately or they didn't move around which I didn't like. I ended up not getting a mobile then but I'm glad I have this one now, especially for when we have another child. If I could give it a 4.5 that would be my actual rating due to the annoying battery size but I don't think that makes it lose a whole point so I went with 5! The mobil was easy to put together. The screw cap to hold the mobile on was crooked so am unsure if this was impacting the motion. My daughter can roll to her tummy so we wouldn't be able to use this in mobile mode. It is very large and I don't think we would have used this for sleeping on her crib. I did enjoy the volume control range and the variety of sounds/music. The mobile also takes C batteries which we generally do not have. This was a big negative. I do like that the mobile converts to a music player so there are other options once the baby grows out of the first phase. However, it is still a bit bulky and the music is set so am unsure on the utility relative to other music players. I do think it will be important to take it down once baby is moving since it could knock over if she bumps into it. My baby loves it! The animals are super cute and caught her attention right away. I love that the mobile part comes off and it can be used as a music box as well. There are lots of options for songs in different styles, and the buttons are big enough that she'll be able to push them herself soon. Unfortunately, my 10 month old son is already standing and therefore able to grab the mobile above the crib just as the warning sticker on the product stated. That being said, the detachable base has been an entertaining toy for him to play with outside of his crib. There are 6 various sounds (Jazz, World, Nature, Classic, Lullaby, White sound) to select from with the option to have them alternate as well. The largest button has two cute characters on it and once pressed, plays music. The six smaller buttons are to change the sounds, and the swap button is slightly above that. The buttons are easy for my son to press and there's a choice to have sound with or without lighting. Additionally, the volume has many noise levels which I love. So many toys are too loud but this is perfect as the sound can be turned down. The only hiccup was that the product did not come with the required &quot;c&quot; batteries. There is a handle that can be pushed down if it's not needed. The mobile was easy to install, it only took a few minutes to build. One installation con is that it takes C batteries, which is not something I standardly have at home, so I needed to order batteries specifically for this item. With that said, ordering the batteries was well worth it! The music box attaches easily to our crib, and it seems very durable and safe. I love that the mobile rotates automatically as this keeps my 5-month old son more entertained, and I don't have to manually spin the mobile. The height is adjustable - we like to attach it lower in the crib because my son loves trying to reach up to grab the toys that hang from the mobile, but you can easily attached it higher up in the crib so your little one can't reach the toys. Some may prefer to keep the music box and/or mobile attached at all times, but my son is very curious and needs a completely dark room with no distractions to sleep, so we remove the mobile and music box at nap and bedtime, which is easy to do. You can also easily detach the toy bar, leaving the music box attached without the mobile, making it flexible for every family's needs. I also love that this toy will grow with my son - it's great for him now at 5-months, and as he gets older we can remove the toy bar/mobile, and he can play with the music box as a standalone toy. Like that you can attach it on either side of the crib; also you can regulate the level of music normally (not like with some toys where it's either too loud or too quiet). Would definitely recommend it as a gift to newborns. In my experience my kid loved it.
